Is a sexual transmitted disease(STDs) caused by bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
Diseases is transmitted through sexual contact with infected person.
SIGN AND SYMPTOMS OF GONORRHOEAE
-In male symptoms develop after 2-5 days incubation period after single exposure.Symptoms are thick,yellow penis discharge and dysuria(discomfort when urinating).
-Female,about 80% are asymptomatic infection are detected in contacts of symptomatic male partners.After month females experience symptoms like-
-Waterly,cream or slightly green vaginal discharge
-Discomfort during urination
-Painful during sexual Intercourse
- Heavy period
-Pain in lower abdomen
-Fever
COMPLICATIONS IN MEN
In male, spread of the infection to the epididymis,and condition called epididymitis involve inflammation of tube that carry semen(testicles)
COMPLICATIONS IN FEMALES
Infection of paraurethral glands and bartholin's glands. Much serious complication is when infection spread into the uterus and pillopian tube. Further spread may lead to chronic PID, abscess formation, fallopian tube occlusion lead to infertility, ectopic pregnancy.
OPHTHALMIA NEONATORUM
This happen to child in the first month of birth, defined as an acute conjunctivitis. Infant infected during birth.
PREVENTION AND TREATMENTS
- Reduce number of sexual partiner
- Use condom during sexual Intercourse
ANTIBIOTICS INCLUDES
-single dose of penicillin
